Information Minimum
Deciding when you have enough, so the search stops costing more than the answer is worth.
A keep-close version. Read it here, or screenshot this page to have it on your phone — print and PDF copies will appear once final files are attached.
It's possible to gather more than a decision needs — and with ME/CFS, the gathering is often the most expensive part. This finds the smallest amount of information that makes a good-enough choice possible, and gives you permission to stop there.
The pending decision
What it is
e.g. Whether to switch pharmacies
What would actually change the answer?
Not everything you could know — only the facts that would move the choice.
- One cost or practical factDo they deliver — yes or no
- One timing factCan the prescription transfer this week
- One person's experienceHas anyone I trust used them
- Nothing — knowing more wouldn't change what I'd do
The smallest set of facts
What I actually need to know
e.g. Delivery yes/no, and whether my medication is stocked — that's it
And the searching stops…
Perfect information doesn't exist for most ordinary choices, and waiting for it is usually a decision by default. 'Good enough, for now' is a legitimate place to stand.
