My Low-Energy Setup
Writing down how the home works, so it can be kept working by anyone who helps.
A keep-close version. Read it here, or screenshot this page to have it on your phone — print and PDF copies will appear once final files are attached.
One page of the house as a system — so the design survives fog, can be shared with supporters, and stops living only in your head.
Rest stations
What lives within reach, where
e.g. Sofa: water, medication, charger, snack box. Bed: the same, plus eye mask and earplugs.
The launch pad by the door
What lives there
e.g. Keys, phone, earplugs, sunglasses, the bag that goes with me
The kitchen's lowest-effort shelf
What's reachable without bending or hunting
e.g. Mugs, kettle-side tea, the no-cook foods at waist height
The house rules that make it work
- Things live where they're used, not where they look tidy
- One-touch: handled once, not moved twice
- Leave-it-ready: finish at the step that makes tomorrow's start easy
- Nothing daily lives at the back of the lowest cupboard
- Helpers ask 'where should this live?' before putting anything away
In a designed home, placement is the whole system — and the person who rests there is the designer. This page is how the design outlives the fog, and how supporters keep it instead of tidying it.
