Decision-Making With Limited Capacity

One-Page View

My Default Decisions

Writing your recurring choices down once, so hard days follow them instead of re-choosing them.

A keep-close version. Read it here, or screenshot this page to have it on your phone — print and PDF copies will appear once final files are attached.

A default is a decision made in advance, on a clearer day, that removes the same decision from every future day. Deciding once and reusing often is autonomy — not rigidity. These can be changed by the same person who set them, any better day.

Food defaults

The hard-day meal

e.g. Toast, cheese, tomato — no deciding, no standing

The ordinary rotation

e.g. Five meals, same each week; Monday is pasta night

Reply defaults

The standard reply to invitations

e.g. I'll know closer to the time — I'll confirm the day before.

Rest defaults

The default rest time

e.g. After lunch, 45 minutes, protected unless the house is on fire

Bad-day answers

The default bad-day rule

e.g. Before 10am, the phone stays on silent. Texts get answered after.

One more default worth having

Anything you re-decide daily

e.g. Which shower day is 'hair washed' day — decided, not debated

Following a default you set yourself on a good day is not rigidity — it's you, from a clearer moment, taking care of a foggier one.
