Support, Asking for Help & Being Understood

One-Page View

My Support Menu

One visible list that turns 'anything you need' into something real a helper can choose from.

A keep-close version. Read it here, or screenshot this page to have it on your phone — print and PDF copies will appear once final files are attached.

Most failed help is unspecified help. This builds the concrete list — the things that actually help, grouped by kind, with an explicit 'please don't' section that's as useful as the yes-list.

Practical help — things people can do

  • Bin out on Tuesday
  • Milk and basics when they're shopping
  • A lift to the appointment
  • A meal left at the door
  • Prescription pickup
  • An admin hour — forms, calls, letters
  • Dog walking / pet care
  • The school run on hard weeks

Emotional support — things people can be

  • A weekly text that expects no reply
  • Listening without fixing
  • Sitting with the hard stuff without making it lighter
  • Believing without requiring proof

Presence — company that asks nothing

  • Company in the same room, no conversation required
  • A short, quiet visit — an hour, no hosting
  • Watching something together, phones allowed

Informational — things people can know

  • The person who knows the benefits system
  • The person who's researched this illness and doesn't push cures
  • The person who can hold medical questions with me

Please don't

The section helpers thank you for — it removes the guesswork.

The don't-list

e.g. Surprise visits; cures and supplements; asking what I've tried; phoning when texting works

Where the menu lives

Its visible home

e.g. Fridge card + the shared note with Anna

The menu protects both directions: helpers get certainty instead of guesswork, and you get the shape of help held without asking fresh each time.
