Healthcare & Appointments With Limited Capacity
Use only what is manageable. You do not need to read this page all at once.
Very short version
A short note, another person, and reasonable adjustments can carry an appointment. You do not need to explain everything.
A little more, if it is useful today:
- A brief note can do the talking: today’s main symptoms, what is hardest, and what you need. A few lines are enough.
- Another person can attend with you, or for you, and hold or read your notes.
- Reasonable things to ask for: the first appointment of the day, a quiet area, somewhere to lie down, or short specific questions.
- Home visits, telephone or video appointments may be possible. It is reasonable to ask what is available.
- You do not have to explain ME/CFS fully — describing the effects of today is enough.
- Cancelling or postponing when capacity drops is sensible, not a failure.
